Swiss Photo Collection – cutting-edge photography in a new database
Dear friends of Swiss photography!
ewz.selection is proud to present a new photography database: Swiss Photo Collection is a research tool, a showcase and a calling card all in one, and offers the very latest in Swiss photography free of charge to all users.
The database features all digital submissions for the Swiss Photo Award made since 2006. At present it comprises 945 submissions in the categories of Commercial Photography, Journalistic Photography, Fine Arts and Free, a total of 5727 separate photographs. Each year brings a new crop of submissions for the photo prize, and every year the Swiss Photo Collection grows by more than 450 works, or 2500 photographs. The 18 submissions selected between 1999 and 2005 will soon be online as well, making the database a comprehensive archive of ten years of Swiss photography.
Swiss Photo Collection is a showcase and a research tool rolled into one. It acquaints its users with cutting-edge Swiss photography, helps them locate a commercial photographer in Geneva, offers them insight into fine art photography and lets them keep abreast of the jury’s selections for the Swiss Photo Award from ewz.selection. Users can search the database by photographer’s name, by keywords (or tags), by category, year of publication, agency, gallery or place of publication, among other criteria. In addition to its search and sort functions, the database also features MyCollection, which allows users to assemble and save their very own private selection.
The database provides photographers’ contact information free of charge.
Photographers pay no fees for their inclusion in Swiss Photo Collection. Because the only condition for inclusion is participation in the Swiss Photo Award from ewz.selection, the database also gives photographers an incentive to assemble their portfolio.
Swiss Photo Collection is designed to be a virtual showcase, a benchmark and a calling card for contemporary Swiss photography. And, as an archive, Swiss Photo Collection also contributes to the preservation of Switzerland’s collective memory.

ewz.selection Opening Night – reserve your tickets now

Swiss Photography - exhibition & events
The Swiss Photography – ewz.selection exhibition will continue following the award ceremony until 8 June 2008 at the ewz-Unterwerk Selnau, Selnaustrasse 25, 8001 Zurich, open daily from 12 noon until 8 pm.
Swiss Portfolio Day, a show on the lower level devoted to "Mental Images – Scenes from Post-War Switzerland", roundtable discussions, a photography soirée, a live photoshoot-cum-workshop as well as guided tours and sofa talks will broaden your appreciation of the photographer’s work and place Swiss photography squarely in focus.
ewz.selection Swiss Portfolio Day
Swiss Portfolio Day brings together photographers, visual media agents, advertisers, photo editors, curators, publishers and others, and offers an opportunity to exchange information, hold detailed discussions, and network.
Swiss Portfolio Day comprises MyPortfolio, Winner Portfolio and Open Place: Winner Portfolio presents works by winners of the vfg young talent promotion prize and the ewz.selection photo prize and is primarily intended for visual media professionals interested in learning about the work of prizewinners and what Swiss photography has to offer, while Open Place gives photographers a chance to meet professionals without booking ahead.
